Let in the Light and celebrate the Summer Solstice! Immerse yourself in joy with the quintessential summer sun-herb…the uplifting St. John’s Wort!
St. John’s Wort has an all-around sunny disposition and it aids in resolving pain on both physical and emotional levels. St. John’s signature, perforated leaves, like tiny windows, and bright yellow flowers bloom around the time of Summer Solstice and can literally let in the light when we are experiencing sadness or depression as it elevates our spirits, helps us regain energy and motivation, reclaim joy and a positive outlook on life!
St John’s Wort has a strong affinity for the nervous system, acting as a trophorestorative – revitalizing and building up the strength and restoring function to the nervous system over time. As an analgesic it can be used both internally and externally for acute and chronic conditions and is especially effective for diminishing nerve pain, relieving sore muscles and joints, and for healing wounds and burns. It protects and supports liver health.
It can moderate inflammation and is antimicrobial, a specific remedy for viral infections that involve the nerves, both preventing and shortening the duration of cold sores and herpes infections.
Additionally, students will learn how to make a flower essence! Flower essences are incredible medicine that work on an emotional level. We are freed from that which holds up back and are able to move forward. St. John’s Wort is a powerful emotional ally that can help us to access the good memories that we have suppressed with the bad and take back our childhood.

In this hands-on, fresh air intensive, students will learn how to correctly identify and ethically harvest St. John’s Wort using knowledge about the right time, right parts, and the proper way to harvest it, as well as how to make effective natural remedies. We will also learn about safety, contraindications, dosage and more!
Make and Take! You will have the option to make an infused oil and either a tincture, infused honey, or elixir (your choice). You will also receive instructions and additional materials for crafting a healing herbal salve. Heather will give detailed information about each menstruum and what they extract and preserve from the herb so that students will be able to make informed decisions about which remedies will be right for them.
St John’s Wort, Hypericum perforatum, is an important plant to know. Come learn about the many physical, mental and spiritual gifts it has to offer you and feel empowered to discover and embrace your own wisdom of plants and open yourself up to all the plants wish to teach!
