Nettle is bursting with beneficial goodness! The lovely stinging nettle, Urtica dioica, is a nutrient rich green that our bodies recognize as both food and medicine. Good nutrition is the crucial foundation for building a healthy body, mind and spirit and nettles can help you build strong vitality!
In this fresh-air course, you will learn to locate and accurately identify nettles. You will also learn the right time to harvest for the most potent, effective nutrition and medicinal benefits and experience foraging for nettles using a couple different techniques. You will make and take home 2 different remedies … (best of all!) you will sample an amazingly delicious FRESH nettle pesto…which we will make right there in field! This is a must-do Spring class!
I am super excited to share my knowledge and experience of nettles with you! This is by far one of my favorite herbs to teach about, because nettles are so accessible (mind the sting!), yet powerfully healing plants. I am delighted to teach you how easy is is to find, forage and incorporate them into a healthy lifestyle.
If you are new to the world of herbalism this is a PERFECT place to start! But even if you already know lots about nettles or have harvested nettles before, remember that there is ALWAYS more to learn about nettles!
I’ll cover a great deal about how nettles are used medicinally, including case study stories, current research, and the specific phytochemicals in nettles which will give you the “why and how” nettles do what they do in YOUR body!
This class is not your typical “nettles are good for…” class.
You will receive a ton of information, instruction, and hands-on experience as you learn to to accurately identify, harvest and prepare a variety of remedies. Students will have an opportunity to harvest nettles, make and take home 2 different remedies, and sample nettle pesto…which we will make fresh right in the field! BEST DAY EVER!
We will be in Discovery Park, in the NORTH parking lot. Detailed meeting instructions will be provided about a week prior to class meeting. We go where the nettles are! Carpool options may be arranged if needed. Please email Heather to inquire.
