“Watching something grow is good for morale. It helps us believe in life.”
~ Myron S. Kaufman

Happiness grows in the garden!

Explore what makes a garden, whether it be a plot of land, a window box, container garden, indoor jungle, hugelkultur, and/or straw bale gardening. The possibilities are endless and can be adapted to suit your lifestyle and limitations. Get creative!

Soil amendments create a fertile place for your plants to live long and prosper and bring in the pollinators and other beneficial wildlife. Amending the soil means to add nutrients and materials to make soil more fertile, adding to the permeability of the soil and water retention, producing nutritionally and medicinally lush plants. It does not need to cost a bucket ton of money. Let’s look to nature to provide!

Knowing sun and water requirements of a variety of herbal families is key to abundant harvests and effective medicine and nutrition. In part 2 of our garden series, we’ll delve into the plants to choose from to add – or start – YOUR garden.

Attending students will receive the presentation pdf and zoom recording after the workshop is over.

“To plant a garden is to believe in tomorrow.” Audrey Hepburn

We don’t have to ingest plants to be healed by them. Those of us who spend time in our gardens know this.

Before we pick our first leaf or flower, we are brought into the exquisite beauty of nature. It’s the peace and quiet that first draws attention. The utter calm that is so pleasing. We begin to notice the sounds of the area: birds calling, bees buzzing, wind rustling leaves and branches. As we brush up against lavender, spearmint, basil, our nose takes in the restorative aromas. The garden heals us by simply being.

Herbs are so welcome in the garden!

They naturally provide food for pollinators, beauty to behold, and remedies on your apothecary shelves! From anise hyssop, blue elder, hawthorn, violet and calendula, to horseradish, lavender and motherwort, oats, rosemary, yarrow and marshmallow.  You might be thinking about adding grapes, hops, basil, peppermint, echinacea, spearmint, ashwagandha and parsley!

Join in the discussion about these and the many other herbs to plant in your garden, their requirements, and what they bring to the table and in your remedies, medicinally and nutritionally.

At the Cedar Mountain Herb School, our motto is “Get the medicine to the people in ways that they’ll delight in taking so that healing can occur.” Included in the workshop are recipes and tips to bring the healing to YOUR people!

Attending students will receive the presentation .pdf and zoom recording after the workshop is over.
