Our Autumn Wellness Series gets your apothecary stocked and ready with remedies geared to staying healthy and for relief from flus and colds.
Fire Cider: This isn’t going to be your regular “making fire cider” workshop! What’s different is that you’ll discover the constituents in the plants that allow them to relieve viral symptoms and eliminate the virus from the body. That brings greater understanding of how the plants are working the body and give you the tools to talk about herbal medicine with others who might be skeptical. Making and using fire cider as a time honored herbalist tradition for supporting the immune system and preventing and alleviating cold symptoms has given countless people peace of mind and substantial help. Learn its history and make some tasty and effective fire cider to add to your apothecary. The onions and horseradish for the fire cider will be harvested by the students right from soil here at the Cedar Mountain Herb School farmlet! Garlic will already be harvested and provided.
Onions and garlic have traditionally been mainstays of respiratory and immune health for centuries. My own great-grandfather used to eat an onion a day like an apple. He died at a very old age and was so healthy his whole life. We will utilize organic onions, garlic and herbs from the garden to create an allium (botanical genus name for both onion and garlic) and lemon honey AND a virus killing vinegar made with sage, thyme, marjoram, onions and garlic.
Students will acquire skills to support their own health and wellness and that of their loved ones by creating handcrafted fire cider and fresh allium and herb remedies. Not only that, but students will learn ways to use their remedies in ways their loved ones will take, so that healing can occur. It’s transformational!
All processing of the plants into medicine will be done in the beautifully relaxing orchard. Perhaps an apple or two may end up in the students’ bags to take home!
