Elderberries are a beloved and consistently reliable herb for addressing most illness caused by viral infections. Sail through the winter healthy and ready to enjoy the season by building your herbal toolbox now! In this hands-on workshop you will learn how to craft effective elderberry remedies that can help to prevent or shorten the duration and intensity of a cold or flu and save a ton of money in the process!

Gain an understanding of the unique constituents of our native Elder, Sambucus nigra ssp.cerulea, that make it such a valuable remedy and learn to craft your own, fresh remedies! In this hands-on workshop I will teach you step-by-step how to properly process elderberries and how to best extract the many constituents responsible for its healing actions. Learn why fresh is best! Options are an elderberry tincture (alcohol extraction), oxymel (apple cider vinegar and honey, elixir (honey and brandy), vinegar or honey.

This workshop is bursting with up-to-date information and you will learn more than you thought possible about the many wonderful attributes of the elderberry! As a bonus, you will also receive a beautiful elderberry booklet with even more material!

WHERE TO MEET:

Seattle area park. Details and meeting location will be provided after registration. To keep the workshop stress free for all, pets and children are not permitted.

Dress appropriately for the weather: rain gear, hat or umbrella. We will have a canopy available for rain protection if needed!

What to bring:

  • 1 8 oz jar (no larger) with a plastic lid
  • A muddler or something to gently mash berries
  • Camp chair or blanket to sit on
  • Notebook and pen
  • Lunch, water, snacks

Depending on your preference:

  • A half pint of brandy (if making an elixir)
  • A half pint of 151 vodka or 190 proof everclear (if making a tincture)
  • A half pint of organic, raw apple cider vinegar (if making a vinegar or oxymel)
  • A half pint of raw, liquid (not spun) local honey (if making a honey, oxymel or elixir)
WORKSHOP REFUND POLICY: Refunds will gladly be given minus a 20% processing fee up to 7 days before a community workshop. We have a no refunds policy for cancelling 7 days or less before a workshop and for no-shows. No exceptions can be made. Thank you for understanding.
