Rooted in Place: A Hands-On Herbal Experience
Join Suzanne Tabert for a hands-on experience at the Cedar Mountain Herb School farmlet, working with both wild and cultivated plants. You’ll learn identification and harvesting skills, create a pine whisk broom and fragrant herbal bundle, and help prepare a fresh salad and herbal dressing from the garden to enjoy in the beauty of the gardens. This class focuses on practical skills: learning the plants, harvesting with awareness, and using what is growing around you in real, everyday ways.
The Farm is on uneven ground, and the program will be held rain or shine.

- Dress for changing weather

- Advance registration is required for this program. No Pets Are Allowed. Adults & Teens welcome!
What to Expect at this Evening Workshop:
We’ll begin with a guided walk through the landscape, identifying seasonal wild plants and discussing their use in everyday herbal practice. From there, we’ll move through the vegetable and herb gardens, looking at what’s in season, how to harvest properly, and how these plants move from garden to kitchen and home use.
We’ll make a simple pine whisk broom using locally gathered materials. We’ll also harvest aromatic herbs from the garden—such as lavender, mugwort, spearmint, and catmint—and other seasonal plants to create a fragrant hand-tied botanical bundle for drying and home use.
Together, we’ll harvest ingredients from the garden, prepare a fresh seasonal salad, and make a simple herbal dressing using fresh herbs, oil, and vinegar to share as a group.
