Smoke Is in the Air!

As the hot days of summer continue, fires are burning across many parts of the country. Here in North Idaho, the smoke has become a familiar part of the landscape, with the Spokane fires and numerous others burning throughout the surrounding region. Smoke-filled air can take a toll on our lungs, but there are practical steps we can take to help support respiratory health during wildfire season.

Making Homemade Ghee

Those who are dairy free like me (😢😭) may be able to tolerate ghee as it is pure fat with none of the proteins or lactose. Yum! Hey, our bodies must have fats to make hormones, which run every action in our body. Talking more about this may be a deep dive with a future […]

Intro to Salal (Gaultheria shallon)

The leaves of salal contain several phenolic acids including tannic and gallic acids. They dry out congested tissue. The tannins in salal help to squeeze fluid out of the lungs and sinuses, as it were, bringing down inflammation and opening pathways to allow for better respiratory function.
